On Monday 4 August, the Hampshire Cricket Board welcomed 141 young participants from across its urban programmes - Lord’s Taverners Wicketz, Chance to Shine Street, and the MCC Foundation - to Wellington Sports Centre for the annual Hawks Fest.
The festival featured four separate competitions: Senior Hardball, Development Hardball, Tapeball, and Softball. Despite drizzle throughout the day, the cricket went ahead with players displaying impressive skills and enjoying every moment. Smiles, laughter, and sportsmanship were in abundance as participants refused to let the weather dampen their spirits.
Cricket wouldn’t exist without the incredible volunteers who make the game happen - and now it’s time to give them the recognition they deserve.
Nominations are officially open for the 2025 Cricket Collective Awards, the annual celebration of the outstanding individuals, clubs, and organisations who power recreational cricket across the country.

Over two sun-drenched evenings at Alton and New Milton Cricket Clubs, more than 200 juniors, coaches and parents gathered for unforgettable experiences with some of Hampshire’s finest.
Hampshire D40 secured a place in the ECB Disability Premier League Final with a 153-run win over Essex, thanks to Sam Godfrey’s unbeaten century and Alex McAdam’s five-wicket haul.
Throughout the summer term, schools across the county took part in local Dynamos festivals, run by School Games Organisers and Community Coaches, leading to the County Finals at the Utilita Bowl. On Tuesday 24th June, 15 girls’ teams competed, with Weeke Primary School crowned champions. The following day, 18 teams took part in the open event, where Merdon Junior School came out on top. Both days showcased impressive cricket, enthusiasm, and great sportsmanship.
It was a special evening at Utilita Bowl on Monday 17th June, as we welcomed some of Hampshire’s finest amateur cricketers onto the pitch during the interval of the T20 Blast Surrey Double Header.
These individuals were celebrated as part of the #HantsTopGun campaign – a county-wide initiative that recognises outstanding weekly performances in club cricket. Running from May to August, the campaign highlights the male and female players with the highest batting scores and best bowling figures from the ECB Hampshire Honours Boards.
