Hampshire Cricket Board appoint new Chair

Hampshire Cricket Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Alexandra Ehrmann as its new Chair.

Alex is HCB's first ever female Chair and succeeds Geoff Rhodes, who will step back into his previous role as Finance Director, until his final 3-year term comes to an end, prior to the 2024 AGM.

Alex has been an HCB non-executive director for the past 18 months and Chair of Ropley Cricket Club since 2019. Whilst on the Board Alex has taken a keen interest in the development of women and girls’ cricket, which included being on the Hampshire Cricket League (HCL) Women’s Sub Committee and acting as the liaison between clubs and the HCL Management Committee.

Alex also chairs the HCB Facilities Steering Group and has played a crucial role in formulating Hampshire’s 10-year Facilities Strategy, to be published later in the summer.

Alex will be resigning as Chair of Ropley CC at the end of the season but during her time, has been their first female coach and overseen the growth of the club, including thriving Junior and women and girls’ sections.

'I am extremely honoured to be Hampshire Cricket Board’s first female chair and follow on from all the great work the board and executive team has done to date. At its best cricket offers great opportunity for being part of an inclusive and diverse sporting community with excellence and fun at its heart. Hampshire Cricket board’s team works tirelessly to help enable that throughout Hampshire and I’m very proud to be a tiny part of that effort'

Alex Ehrmann, new HCB Chair

‘It’s fantastic Alex has taken on this incredibly important voluntary position. Alex has already made a big contribution as non exec director and is clearly extremely passionate about the impact HCB, and cricket more widely can have on our communities across the county. The Team and I very much look forward to working with Alex in her new role!

I would also like to thank Geoff Rhodes, for his time as Chairman. I am very grateful for the support and advice geoff has provided over the last 18 months and for agreeing Geoff to continue in the role as Finance Director until his final term comes to an end.’
