Hursley Park Cricket Club’s Under-13 girls capped off an outstanding season by clinching victory at the ECB National U13 Club Finals, held at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground on 14th September. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the skill, teamwork, and dedication shown by the young players throughout the year.
Emma Cowdrill, Women & Girls’ Development Officer at Hampshire Cricket Board (HCB), praised the club’s continued success and growth in women’s and girls’ cricket:
"Hursley Park has been one of the leading women and girls’ clubs in Hampshire for many years now and it’s fantastic to see young players, many of whom I have known for years, growing in ability and confidence through the coaching at Hursley Park and culminating in such a phenomenal result."
Emma Cowdrill, Women & Girls' Development Officer
The team secured a memorable win by 27 runs, with a standout performance from Sophie Butcher, who top-scored with an unbeaten 85 runs, showcasing her immense talent and composure on the big stage.
Hursley Park’s dedication to nurturing female cricketing talent is evident in their structure, which includes three women’s teams and a full complement of girls’ teams from Under-9s to Under-16s. This victory follows an already impressive season where the U13 team won the U13 Tier 1 South league and reached the quarter-finals of the U13 Carolyne Boyles Cup.
