Match Pitch Preparation & Recovery Course – Delivered by County Pitch Advisors

Hands-on training this May for grounds and club volunteers, covering everything from marking out to post-match repairs.

The Grounds Management Association (GMA), in partnership with Hampshire Cricket Board, is offering a practical Match Pitch Preparation and Recovery course this May – delivered by our experienced County Pitch Advisors.

For Grounds Volunteers & Club Staff

Ideal for grounds volunteers, club staff, and anyone involved in cricket pitch maintenance, the course offers hands-on learning and expert advice tailored to club-level facilities.

The session will cover all key aspects of preparing and maintaining high-quality match pitches, including:

  • Marking out and surface assessment

  • Mower types, cutting heights, and rolling

  • Wetting and drying techniques

  • Brushing, raking, and mowing routines

  • Match day preparation

  • Foot hole repairs and post-match clean-up

  • Re-use of pitches during longer games

  • Applying loam, seed, and fertiliser

  • Repair tools, materials, and aftercare
