21 September 2025 marked a vibrant celebration of women and girls’ cricket in Hampshire, as the Metro Bank Women’s Final brought together players, clubs, and supporters for a day that showcased the strength and exciting future of the women’s game.
The event featured a range of interactive stalls and activities, highlighting key areas across the cricketing community - from female-specific kit and sports physiotherapy to mental health awareness, blind and disability cricket, officiating opportunities, and the inspiring girls’ cricket project in Rwanda.
During the innings break, spectators were treated to on-pitch demonstrations featuring the four W10 finalists - Locks Heath, Bishops Waltham, Gosport, and Portsmouth & Southsea - alongside the England Women’s VI team and the Hampshire Adders.
Adding to the celebrations, two girls from Yateley Cricket Club took on mascot duties to mark their club’s upcoming milestone - 20 years of women and girls’ cricket in 2025. The guard of honour was provided by Hook & Newnham Basics, winners of the Bethan Watkinson U11 Cup, and Grayshott, winners of the Brian King U11 Cup.
The day was a true celebration of the passion, progress, and community spirit at the heart of women’s and girls’ cricket in Hampshire - underlining the county’s commitment to growing and supporting the game at every level.
