Southern Brave Inspire Next Generation at Utilita Bowl

Over 250 juniors from four Hampshire clubs join players for open training session

Over 250 junior players, volunteer coaches and parents from four Hampshire clubs were given a day to remember as Southern Brave’s men’s and women’s players hosted an open training session at Utilita Bowl.

Young cricketers from Burridge, Hartley Wintney, Portsmouth & Southsea, and St Cross Symondians - winners of Hampshire Cricket Board’s annual club affiliation draw - had the chance to step onto the hallowed turf and showcase their batting, bowling and fielding skills.

The players enjoyed a unique experience, meeting their heroes up close as Brave stars signed bats, shirts, and even a sock, while also stopping for selfies and group photographs.

“The feedback from the parents and the players has been overwhelmingly positive. I know more than a few were returning the next day to watch The Hundred. Knowing they have met those players will add to their enthusiasm.”

Rob Cook, Hartley Wintney Cricket Club Head Coach

The event highlighted the strong connection between grassroots cricket and the professional game, inspiring the next generation of players across the county.
