U13 & U15 Girls Indoor Schools Finals

New Forest state school wins girl's indoor county final at Utilita Bowl

Hampshire Cricket Board hosted the ECB Girls U13 and U15 Indoor Finals at Utilita Bowl last month, with a New Forest state school winning the U13 competition.

Priestlands School won the U13 competition and will go on to represent Hampshire at the regional finals in May, after defeating three other schools. Last year's regional champions, St Swithun's, were victorious once again in the U15 final and will look for further success later this year.

Southern Vipers' stars Alice Monaghan, Talitha Stanley, and Charlotte Taylor, were present at the finals to show their support for girl's school cricket.

The tournaments, which any schools within the county can enter, saw local group matches take place throughout January and February. Winning teams from each group then attended a semi final, hosted at Dummer Cricket Centre, with the winners progressing into the finals played at Utilita Bowl.

In the county U13 tournament, nineteen schools were represented with seven being state-run, including eventual winners Priestlands. Sixteen schools took part in the U15 competition with eight of those being state schools.

“The young talents of Priestlands U13 Girls cricket team showcased their prowess at the prestigious Hampshire finals held at Utilita Bowl on Thursday. The tournament witnessed an exceptionally high standard of cricket, with each participating school exhibiting commendable performance.

“Despite a setback in the first game, the team demonstrated resilience and determination, securing two consecutive wins in subsequent fixtures. Their victory in the tournament was sealed by an outstanding display of runs scored. The girls' remarkable performance has earned them the honour of representing Hampshire, a prospect they eagerly anticipate.”
