Hampshire 2nd XI v Surrey 2nd XI – Game One
An excellent all-round performance ensured Hampshire Second XI secured a comfortable 92-run victory over a strong Surrey side in the first T20 fixture at Purley.
Lewis McManus (37*) top scored for Hampshire in a shared batting effort which included three batsman scoring quick-fire thirties, to ensure Hampshire posted a competitive 172-6 from their 20 overs.
In reply, a superb Hampshire bowling effort left Surrey 30-5 and in disarray early in their run-chase, with Tom Barber (3-12), Chris Wood (2-5) ripping through the heart of the hosts batting line-up.
With the hosts never able to fully recover after the loss of early wickets, they were eventually dismissed for 89 inside 14 overs, handing the visitors an imposing opening game win.
Hampshire 2nd XI v Surrey 2nd XI – Game Two
An impressive innings from Owais Shah (68) was not enough to see Hampshire Second XI to back to back T20 wins as Surrey Second XI claimed a three-wicket victory in the second T20 match at Purley.
Batting first, the loss of early wickets meant Hampshire began on the back foot, however a battling knock from Shah, with good support late on from Chris Wood (26*), ensured Hampshire posted 150-6 from their allotted overs.
The hosts looked to be in early trouble and they found themselves 46-5 as Tom Barber (3-32) took early wickets, but an unbeaten half-century from Sam Curran (63*) helped Surrey seize control as he saw the side home with nine balls to spare.
