Hampshire Second XI v Sussex – Game One

An aggressive century from former England international Luke Wright (109) in just 48 deliveries saw Hampshire fall to 63-run defeat in the first T20 match against Sussex at Hove.

Wright, along with opening partner Chris Nash (87*) raced along as they looked to post a large total having chosen to bat first. Some huge hits from the former made bowling immensely difficult, with Wright bringing up a superb hundred, having spent less than an hour at the crease.

Jimmy Adams (41) and James Vince (37) sought to bring the visitors close in their reply but some tight bowling meant that the commanding first innings-total became too difficult to reach, as Sussex picked up a victory in the opening fixture. 

Hampshire 2^nd XI report v Sussex – Game Two

An excellent knock from wicket-keeper Adam Wheater (69) helped Hampshire’s Second XI secure an impressive 23-run win in the second T20 match against Sussex at Hove.

Hampshire began impressively as both Michael Carberry (42) and Sean Terry (31), looked in good touch as they saw off the home-sides opening attack, before the former fell with the score on 66 after just six overs.

Wheater joined Terry at the crease and began confidently as he showcased his hitting ability early on. Whilst the latter fell shortly after, Wheater continued to dominate and he finished unbeaten with a strike rate of more than 190.

Early wickets for Chris Wood (2-21) and Liam Dawson (2-25) helped Hampshire make early inroads. Good spells from Brad Wheal (2-40) and Yasir Arafat (1-40) also contributed in making batting difficult for the home-side and ultimately Sussex finished short of their target, handing Hampshire a comfortable victory.
