A second successive Southern Electric Premier League century for Ben Duggan (103) helped Hampshire Academy claim a 91-run victory and their third consecutive Southern Electric Premier League win of 2015 against Alton in the at the Utilita Bowl.

The home-side posted a hefty first-innings total, with an excellent knock from Duggan and some good support from Brad Taylor (71) saw Hampshire reach 318-9 from their 50 overs.

The visitors then struggled in their reply as Hampshire’s bowling unit proved to be greatly effective in restricting Alton to just 227-9 in reply; the away-side well short in their pursuit of an imposing first-innings total.

Following two early wickets, Hampshire had initially fallen to 39-2 inside the opening ten overs but a mammoth partnership of 153 between Duggan and Taylor guided the hosts to a strong position on 192-2.

Taylor, though deserving of a century, fell short as his past-paced innings concluded but Duggan continued to dominate as the total surpassed 250 with more than ten overs still remaining.

He eventually was dismissed, but not before celebrating his second century in as many weeks, with the landmark coming off just 113 balls, before some lower-order hitting took Hampshire beyond 300.

With momentum heading into their bowling effort, Hampshire took early wickets thanks to opening pair Ryan Murray (2-16) and Tom Barber (2-43), to further impart their authority on proceedings with the away-side slumping to 19-3.

Jack Myers (58) did his best to prevent further collapse and he came together well with Mark Heffernan (38) to help Alton slightly recover to 111.

However, accurate and patient bowling from Felix Organ (2-28) Mason Crane (2-61) soon prevailed as regular wickets dampened any opposition hopes of an unlikely away triumph, and Hampshire claimed victory by a comfortable margin.
