An impressive performance from Hampshire Second XI, including a match-winning century and five-wicket haul for Ian Holland (128* and 5-37), saw them claim victory by an innings and 24 runs over Surrey Second XI at Wimbledon.

Holland combined well with Tom Alsop (97) and Lewis McManus (79), who both made good contributions as Hampshire posted 452-7 before declaring.

Surrey then struggled in their reply and after the wickets were shared to see them dismissed for just 161, they were forced to follow on before again falling short with the bat, as Holland and Brad Taylor (3-46) bowled the visitors to a comfortable victory without needing to bat again.

Despite losing early wickets which left Hampshire 14-3, an excellent 176-run partnership between Alsop and McManus handed the away-side the initiative as they reached 190-3 before the former fell just short of what would have been a deserved century.

McManus and Holland then shared another valuable partnership, and although McManus departed following his fifty, Holland continued to show his batting prowess to steer Hampshire past 450 before the declaration came.

With an imposing target ahead, Surrey found themselves in early trouble with wickets for Tom Barber (2-19) and Jackson Bird (1-12) seeing them stumble to 61-5. James Burke was the only batsman to offer resistance but an efficient Justin Rollins (3-44) steamed through the lower-order to leave Surrey well short after their opening batting efforts.

Although the hosts started better in their second innings to reach 185-3, the loss of the next five wickets for just 49 runs courtesy of inspired bowling spells from Holland and Taylor, meant that Surrey again fell short as Hampshire claimed a dominating three-day win.
