Academy Defeated by Impressive Ventnor
Felix Organ's half-century wasn't enough as Hampshire Academy were defeated by Ventnor
Arguably physically and mentally drained from their ECB Under-17 Cup winning exploits at Arundel the previous day, Hampshire’s Academy side suffered a 95-run defeat by Ventnor, who swept to a fourth successive Premier Division victory.
Eight of that victorious county team were on the road to Newclose at breakfast-time and with Ventnor 108-6 (Henry Bartlett 34) at one stage, the adreneline from Arundel was still pumping.
But James Cheek (58) swung the match and enabled Ventnor to post 199-9.
The Academy were blown away for 104 in less than 30 overs – Felix Organ, at 16 year of age probably their youngest ever captain, hitting a brave 51 before being eighth out at 93.
Andy Wilson (4-21) and Tom Friend (3-19) did the damage for Ventnor, while Hampshire’s Danny Briggs (2-26) got the last two wickets.
