Seconds End 2015 Season on a Winning Note 

Andy Gorvin and Mason Crane impressed at Kidderminster

The Hampshire Second XI enjoyed a winning end to the 2015 season by beating the Worcestershire Second XI by 53 runs in their four-day friendly at Kidderminster.

Highly-rated Academy batsman Andy Gorvin top-scored during Hampshire’s first innings total of 161 all-out with young bowler Josh Tongue impressing to finish with figures of 6-27.

The visitors then impressed with the ball with a number of contributions from the Hants bowling attack.

Seamers James Tomlinson (2-28), Tom Nugent (2-30) and Basil Akram (2-21) blew away the Worcestershire middle order to reduce them to 114-6.  Spinner Danny Briggs (3-17) and Mason Crane (1-9) then capped off an excellent performance with the ball as the home side were dismissed for 137.

For the second time in the match, Gorvin showed his potential with the bat with an unbeaten 70 as Hampshire produced a far stronger batting performance in their second innings. It was opener Tom Alsop who top-scored with 89 as Hants reached 290-6 declared.

Leg-spinner Crane then picked up impressive figures of 4-98 as Hants dismissed the home side for 261 to confirm the win with two wickets for Jake Lintott (2-26).
