20 Years Of T20: Afridi's Derby Blitz

Shahid Afridi blasted a maiden T20 hundred and Hampshire to finals day back in 2017

With this year's Vitality Blast campaign just around the corner - and to mark the 20th edition of the competition being staged this summer - we've taken a trip down memory lane, looking back at some of the most memorable performances from the past 19 seasons. Next up is Shahid Afridi's mesmerising innings, propelling Hampshire to Finals Day in 2017.

Shahid Afridi’s swashbuckling maiden T20 century was too much for Derbyshire as Hampshire blasted themselves to Finals Day back in 2017.

Opening the batting, Afridi hit seven sixes and 10 fours, setting the tone for Hampshire as they set their highest ever T20 total, surpassing their 225 against Middlesex back in 2006.

Afridi came into the game having only scored 50 runs total in his previous seven innings in the competition.

A 103 run second wicket partnership with captain James Vince 55 (36) put Derbyshire to the sword.

Afridi was dismissed in the 13th over for 101 having only faced 43 balls.

The home side only managed 148 from 19.5 overs, giving Hampshire a 101-run victory.
