Hampshire’s Linsey Smith and Lauren Bell will play a prominent role in the Women’s Premier League played in India, commencing on Friday.
Both join Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who won the competition in 2024, following their impressive form during England's Cricket World Cup campaign in the subcontinent.
They are two of just five English players in this year’s WPL, with England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt featuring for Mumbai Indians, Sophie Ecclestone at UP Warriorz, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge at Gujarat Giants.
The competition runs from 9th January to 5th February, with each team playing eight group matches followed by an Eliminator and Final, the same knockout format as The Hundred.

Smith is set for her first WPL. She was the second-highest wicket taker for England with 12 wickets, with her most notable performance taking figures of 3-7 in England’s opening group stage match against South Africa.
Lauren Bell also had a successful spell alongside her Hampshire teammate, claiming six wickets throughout the competition as England reached the semi-finals.
The swing bowler has previously been part of the WPL with UP Warriorz, who then-England head coach Jon Lewis coached.

Recently, spinner Smith featured for Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL.
She claimed 15 wickets, the second-most for her side, and picked up figures of two wickets for eight runs in their eight-wicket victory over Perth Scorchers in the final to hand the Hurricanes their first title.
