A Match To Remember: Toby Albert

Take a look back at one of Toby Albert's finest innings in a Hampshire shirt

Having recently signed a new deal with Hampshire, we have taken a look back at one of Toby Albert’s best performances for the Rose & Crown.

During the 2022 Royal London Cup, a youthful Hampshire side had made an impressive start to the competition, winning all four of their opening matches.

Led by skipper Nick Gubbins, they came into a match against Lancashire having narrowly defeated Derbyshire by two wickets, courtesy of an unbeaten 84 from Albert.

With the away side winning the toss and electing to bat, Hampshire’s bowling attack took control of the game – with all three of Lancashire’s top three batters scoring nought.

John Turner took a sensational 5-25 as the away side were bowled out for just 183, however the result was far from a formality.

Much of Hampshire’s batting line-up struggled and they found themselves 67/5 when Albert came to the crease.

Though three more wickets would fall around him, the then 20-year-old scored 65 from 73 balls and remained not out to guide his side to an unlikely victory.

Hampshire went on to win all but one of their group matches, but missed out on a spot in the final after losing to Kent Spitfires in the semi-final.

Take a look at his best bits from the match below.
