Hampshire Hawks Qualify For Record 11th T20 Finals Day
Hawks beat Durham by 26 runs to set up Semi-Final clash with Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Edgbaston
Having recently signed a new deal with Hampshire, we have taken a look back at one of Tom Prest’s best performances for the Rose & Crown.
Prest came into the 2022 Royal London Cup having played a key part in Hampshire Hawks’ triumphant Vitality Blast campaign, the highlight of which was his player of the match performance against Somerset in the semi-final.
After winning their opening match against Worcestershire Rapids, Hampshire travelled to Beckenham to take on Kent Spitfires in their second match of the 50-over competition.
The home side won the toss and decided to bowl first, but Prest led the Hampshire charge.
Coming to the crease in the ninth over, the batting all-rounder scored an impressive 181 from just 138 balls, which included 14 fours. It was the Club’s second highest List A individual score behind James Vince’s 190.
His innings was also part of a 207-run partnership with skipper Nick Gubbins and guided the side to a total of 396/5 – a record List A score for Hampshire.
Kent’s reply fell short at 233 all out, giving Hampshire a 163-run victory.
The two sides met again at the semi-final stage of the competition, with Darren Stevens guiding his side to the final where they became eventual champions.
Take a look at his best bits from the innings below.
