Metzger is the latest of a number of Hampshire Academy products that have featured for England's youth sides in recent years, all as part of the Club's highly-regarded pathway programme.
The 17-year-old made his Academy debut in 2018, featuring in 18 fixtures for the side since then. He also lined-up for Hampshire Second XI for the first time last season, aged just 16, where he kept wicket to Ryan Stevenson, Ian Holland and other first-team bowlers.
