Utilita Bowl is on a mission to become the world's greenest international cricket stadium. Home to some of England's most successful cricket teams as well as Hilton Southampton - Utilita Bowl, eforea spa, Boundary Lakes Golf Course, Hampshire Wellbeing Centre and BEEFY's Restaurant.

Utilita Bowl is the home of Hampshire Cricket and Southern Brave, whilst also being a host venue for England Cricket internationals.

In 2024, Hampshire Cricket finished second in the Vitality County Championship, reached the knock-out stage of the Metro Bank One Day Cup and hosted seven action-packed Vitality Blast fixtures as Hampshire Hawks.

Southern Vipers went into their final season as the ‘Vipers’, reaching both Charlotte Edwards Cup and Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy semi-finals.

Southern Brave Men finished Runners-Up in The Hundred after hosting four spectacular double header matchdays at Utilita Bowl with the Women’s side in July & August.

Both England Men & Women hosted sold-out IT20 cricket at the venue based just outside Southampton. England Women welcomed New Zealand, before England Men hosted Ashes rivals Australia.

In 2025, England return for three international fixtures, including Men's fixtures against West Indies and South Africa, as well as England Women hosting India.

Adam Wheater Leaves Hampshire to Join Essex

The 26-year-old leaves made 133 appearances for Hampshire in all competitions

Hampshire Cricket has agreed for wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Wheater to be released from his contract with a year remaining, in order to join Essex.

The 26-year old, who joined Hampshire from Essex in 2013, returns to his former side on a two year agreement.

It was previously announced that Wheater would be joining Essex on loan for the remainder of this year’s Specsavers County Championship competition, but the right-hander will now remain with Essex following the end of the 2016 season.

Adam felt that his future was elsewhere and if a player would like to leave, we will not stand in their way. The club would like to thank Adam for his contributions during his time with us and we wish him well moving forward.

Wheater scored more than 4000 runs at an average of 30.91 in 133 appearances during his time with Hampshire, whilst also claiming 145 dismissals behind the stumps.

The right-hander particularly impressed with the bat in this year’s red-ball campaign, scoring 850 runs at an average of more than 47, including a career-best 204 not-out against Warwickshire in the Specsavers County Championship in July.
