Ali Orr Named In Scotland A Squad

Hampshire batter Ali Orr has been named in Scotland A’s squad for their upcoming series against Jersey.

The 14-player squad will head to the Channel Islands for four T20 fixtures against Jersey at Grainville Cricket Ground on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 April.

Orr, 24, will follow in the footsteps of fellow men’s teammates Brad Wheal and Scott Currie who have gone on to represent Scotland internationally, with Wheal featuring at the recent men’s T20 World Cup.

It’s really exciting to have this kind of opportunity. My mum’s side is Scottish, she was born and grew up in Edinburgh. I know her and the rest of our family will be delighted to see me honour my Scottish heritage, and hopefully I can balance these opportunities with my commitment to Hampshire.

Ali Orr

We’re excited to announce this squad for what will be a really challenging series in Jersey playing on a variety of surfaces. It’s a great chance for these players to perform in a high-performance environment and put themselves in the frame for future international selection.

There’s a good balance to the squad, which includes new players from within county cricket joining a wider group who’ve performed consistently in Scottish domestic cricket or have already attained full international exposure, added to less experienced players who have been part of the Scotland pathway or played for Scotland U19, and are now showing signs that they are ready to take the next step forward. The squad covers lots of bases in terms of spin and pace options and is certainly one that points towards the future. We are looking at the A team programme with emphasis on providing opportunity but also performances in terms of future international selection considerations.

Steve Snell, Cricket Scotland Head of Performance

Orr joined Hampshire ahead of the 2024 season and has featured 29 times across the three formats.

His maiden century for the club came against Durham in 2024 at Utilita Bowl, and he followed it up with three tons in the 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup, including a three-figure score in the final at Trent Bridge against Worcestershire.
