Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards has signed for Hampshire for the first two months of the season.
The 24-year-old will play his first stint in county cricket from April to the end of May.
The right-handed batter and pace bowler has featured alongside Hampshire Hawks captain James Vince for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. He has scored 563 runs and taken 19 wickets in 51 T20 matches.
I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with Hampshire for the first couple of months of the season. I’ve played alongside James Vince for the last few years and have gotten to know him pretty well so it’s great to know I’ll be playing under the Rose and Crown. Watching from afar, the club has been really close to winning titles across formats the last few years so hopefully I can help the team go one step further in 2025.
Jack Edwards, Hampshire all-rounder
All-rounder Edwards has scored 1,751 runs and taken 68 wickets in just 39 First-Class matches.
In this season’s Sheffield Shield, Edwards has scored 386 runs averaging 38.60 and has taken 26 wickets – the second most for New South Wales – at an average of 21.96.
We’re thrilled to be welcoming Jack to Utilita Bowl and are confident that he will provide real strength to the start of our year. Jack has proven himself across bat and ball in tough matches, against strong opposition and bring with him world-class experience. He’s also a former teammate of Vincey [James Vince], so we are confident he will fit in well on the south-coast.”
Giles White, Director of Cricket
Edwards captains his native New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield, where he scored his third First-Class century against Queensland recently, and skippered the Prime Minster’s XI against India ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
