Hampshire and Vipers all-rounder Bates and England international Wyatt will both take centre stage as part of a T20 fixture at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Tuesday 22nd May before the IPL's first qualifier between Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Chennai Super Kings.
The ground-breaking fixture will see the world's best go head-to-head, with Bates (IPL Trailblazers) and Wyatt (IPL Supernovas) facing each other as part of two sides formed.
To all the people that have made tomorrow’s IPL exhibition game possible... thank you. To all the female players that have paved the way, past and present... thank you. I cannot wait to take the field in Mumbai with some fantastic cricketers.
Suzie Bates
We are excited to announce the first-of-its-kind exhibition match involving our women cricketers. BCCI has been pulling out all stops to promote and nurture women’s cricket and this is a small yet significant step towards a prospective league involving women’s stars in the future.
Diana Edulji, Board of Control for Cricket in India
India internationals Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the two teams, with the match designed to provide a platform for female cricketers within the country's most popular tournament.
