Southern Vipers’ Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, and Danni Wyatt will all feature in this winter’s Women’s Big Bash after being picked up in the competition’s first-ever women’s draft.
Batter Wyatt was the first of the three to be picked up, the 11th overall in the draft, and will remain in orange with the Perth Scorchers having previously represented Brisbane Heat in last year’s edition of the tournament.
She scored two half-centuries as the Heat finished in third place, losing the Challenger to the eventual champions, Adelaide Strikers.
Bouchier has also previously featured in the WBBL, for Melbourne Stars, and the same team have picked her up again alongside her England teammate Alice Capsey.
The 24-year-old starred in this year’s Charlotte Edwards Cup and the Hundred, scoring 196 runs in six CEC matches and 268 in nine outings for Southern Brave.
For Bell, it will be her first time out in the WBBL, after she was drafted in by Sydney Thunder.
The swing bowler took six wickets in three Charlotte Edwards Cup matches for the Vipers, and nine wickets in the Hundred as she lifted both trophies.
Charlotte Edwards’ Sydney Sixers meanwhile have drafted in Chloe Tryon, who was part of Edwards’ Hundred-winning Southern Brave, and New Zealand pace bowler Jess Kerr.
The tournament gets underway on 19th October where Edwards’ Sixers take on Bouchier’s Stars.
