Hampshire Cricket wicket-keeper batter Ben Brown has put pen-to-paper on a new contract with the Club and will remain at The Ageas Bowl until at least the end of 2024.
Brown was a key part of Hampshire’s LV= Insurance County Championship and Royal London Cup sides last year, in his first season at the Club.
I really enjoyed my first year here at The Ageas Bowl – it was great fun and I felt I settled in really well.
Ben Brown
It’s a great dressing room to be in and we had a fantastic season across all three formats last year.
We’ve definitely got unfinished business as a team and I’m really excited to go into the next couple of years hunting down more trophies.
The 34-year-old had previously spent his entire career with south coast rivals Sussex – and was captain between 2017 and 2020 – before making the short trip to The Ageas Bowl ahead of the 2022 season.
In last year’s red-ball competition, Brown scored 696 runs at an average of 38.66 and recorded 43 dismissals with the gloves. His high score came at Canterbury as he made 157 against Kent, as well as setting a new Club record for the highest fifth wicket partnership of 273 alongside Liam Dawson.
As a result, Brown was awarded the Red Ball Batter of the Year award at the 2022 End of Season Awards in September.
Ben has been a great fit for the Club and has had an excellent start to his Hampshire career.
Giles White, Hampshire Director of Cricket
He offers all round quality on the pitch, leadership off it and is an extremely valuable member of the side.
We are delighted that he has extended his contract.
He was also a crucial part of the Royal London Cup team, which featured a number of Hampshire youngsters, and his experience helped them make it to the semi-final stage.
The best way to watch Ben and the rest of the Hampshire squad in 2023 is with a Hampshire Cricket Membership.
A Hampshire Cricket Membership provides the chance to be part of the Hampshire family and incorporates a whole host of exciting benefits for 2023.
Members are at the heart of everything that happens at Hampshire Cricket and The Ageas Bowl, and the Club continuously look to improve the Membership offering.
Memberships for 2023 are available to purchase from just £200 for a standard membership, £69 for young adults, whilst a Junior Membership is available for only £25.
The Club’s top-tier Executive Club Membership has proven extremely popular for 2023, and hence, only a limited number of these Memberships remain.
