Match Preview: Essex v Hampshire Hawks Men, Vitality Blast
Hawks Men travel to Chelmsford for their final Vitality Blast group match, with the team all but confirmed to finish in the top four
Hampshire fast bowler Brad Wheal has been named in Scotland's ICC Men's T20 World Cup Squad.
Wheal joins Scotland's 15 man squad - which also includes former Hampshire T20 batsman George Munsey - and sees former England batsman Jonathan Trott involved as a batting consultant.
The South African born player last played for Scotland in a One Day International fixture against Sri Lanka in May 2019, while his last T20I was two years earlier in 2017 against Ireland.
After a positive 2021 Vitality Blast campaign, Wheal was selected to play in the inaugural season of The Hundred, joining fellow Hampshire players Chris Wood and Mason Crane at London Spirit, coached by Hampshire legend Shane Warne.
Although Wheal only featured in three games for London Spirit, he took nine wickets and his average of 7.78 was the second best in the entire competition.
His death bowling was a highlight of The Hundred and this was also on show in Hampshire Hawks' Vitality Blast quarter-final against Notts Outlaws as he saw the Hawks over the line in a thrilling final over.
