Charlotte Edwards & Emily Windsor To Feature In Inaugural MCC Women's Day
The Hampshire duo will feature in an MCC side led by Edwards as part of the MCC'S inaugural Women's Day
Hampshire's Charlotte Edwards and Emily Windsor will represent MCC in a showpiece match against Middlesex as part of the MCC'S inaugural Women's Day taking place at Lord's this week.
The former England and Southern Vipers captain, and new Director of Women's Cricket at the The Ageas Bowl, will lead the MCC side alongside her Hampshire teammate in a squad which also includes World Cup winners Sarah Taylor and Georgia Elwiss.
Two teams made up of MCC Playing Members - Lord’s Ladies and the Marylebone Maidens - will meet in a T20 match before MCC takes on Middlesex in their first-ever match on the main ground at Lord’s.
With over 5,000 schoolchildren expected to attend, and both games being streamed live online, there is plenty to be enthusiastic about off the pitch as well as on it.
There’s a real momentum in the women’s game at the moment. If you’d have said to me five years ago that we’re going to get over 5,000 people here to watch a domestic game, and countless others watching online, I’d never have believed you.
I’m really excited, I think it’s going to be a great occasion and I’m thankful to MCC for allowing us all this opportunity to play at Lord’s.
Charlotte Edwards
