Danni Wyatt struck her highest score of the season against Lightning at Trent Bridge as the Vipers chased down their target of 142 in just 100 balls
With the 2022 season now firmly in the rear-view mirror, we're taking a look back at some of the performances that caught the eye throughout Southern Vipers' successful Charlotte Edwards Cup campaign.
After Georgia Elwiss starred with the ball in the first innings with her 3-28, it was the turn of Danni Wyatt to continue her strong start to the season with the bat.
Her and captain Georgia Adams started well, reaching 34 after five overs before thew skipper fell for 14.
A partnership of 69 in just 8 overs with Maia Bouchier then followed, with the younger of the two only scoring 18 of the runs, as Wyatt unleashed an onslaught against the Lightning bowlers at Trent Bridge.
She took a liking to spinner Lucy Higham as she struck 14 runs off the final over of the powerplay, which included a four and a six, as the Vipers went to 48-1 at the end of the sixth over.
Wyatt then smacked at least one four off the next four overs, as she reached her half-century in just 29 balls with a boundary back over the bowler’s head.
She took the score to 113 in the 14th over before she fell trying to clear the boundary, but the damage had already been done, as just 29 runs were required from the next 6.4 overs.
Elwiss, McCaughan and Kemp then saw the Vipers home in 16.4 overs – exactly 100 balls – and victory was secured by five wickets to continue the side’s unbeaten run.
