#hantsclubchamps18 County Cup Triumph for Hook and Hambledon

Hook and Newnham Basics Cricket Club carried off both the under 11 and under 15 county cups, with Hambledon victorious in the under 13 competition.

The north Hampshire club repeated their 2017 win over Fair Oak under 15s in the Justice Cup, Will Wyatt (24) top-scoring in their 107 for 6 while Monty McKenzie took 3 for 25.  The Oaks seem well placed (Ben Smith 25) but were bowled out 2 runs short (Alex Campbell 3 for 13).  Newport (IoW) conceded in the first national round but the Hook Army bowed out to eventual ECB Vitality Club T20 South and West group runners up Bristol YMCA at Wembdon Cricket Club, Somerset.

Hambledon under 13s edged out a young St Cross Symondians side in the Hindley Cup, with extras (24) the largest contribution as Archie Oscroft claimed 4 for 20.  St Cross were reeling at 72 for 7 needing 106 to win, with 2 wickets each for Bembridge, Restell and Lewis.  Whillock (21) and Good (16) added 30 but the Winchester outfit fell 3 runs short in a last over finish.  Hambledon beat Newport by 10 wickets before losing by 41 runs at Parley in the ECB Vitality Club T20 South and West group.

Hook under 11s also won the Alan Rowe Trophy, bowling out Lock's Heath in their first ever county final for 55.  Manny Lumsden (4 for 9) reached the weekly Play-Cricket county honours board and James Webster took 4 for 16.  Alex Corbett (30) and Ethan Ramsey (21) completed a 9 wicket win.
