Robin Smith: The Judge Who Stood Tall In The Ashes
A masterful batter whose courage defined Ashes series and cemented his place in Hampshire & England history.
Mason Crane missed out on adding the Quarantine Cup to his trophy cabinet after a two wicket defeat to Roman Walker and Glamorgan in Tuesday's final at Edgbaston.
Crane had reached the final after beating Tymal Mills of Sussex in a virtual 'el clasicoast' semi-final clash and had won four of his five group stage matches to reach the knockout stages.
However, after losing the toss and being asked to bat his total of 45-4 wasn't enough as a blistering knock from Billy Root (26 from just 6 balls) saw Roman Walker and Glamorgan over the line with five balls and two wickets remaining.
I'm disappointed. I feel like when I lost the toss that was it because the difficulty went up and I felt it was easier to bowl.
Mason Crane
In the first couple of overs I didn't feel I could score too many runs. Fair play to Roman, he played well and the best man one.
My season has been up and down, I've had some great games and some farcical moments where I've lost some wickets in some extraordinary ways. It's been a lot of fun.
Tuesday's final is available to rewatch below, while you can also hear Mason's full reaction towards the end of the video.
