Currie & Wheal Included In Scotland's Squad For UAE Tour

Hampshire fast bowlers Scott Currie and Brad Wheal have been named in Scotland's squad for their tour of the UAE

Hampshire fast bowlers Scott Currie and Brad Wheal have been named in Scotland's forthcoming tour of the UAE in Feburary and March.

The tour will consist of four ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures against Canada and the UAE, followed by three T20 internationals against the UAE. Two squads have been picked to compete across the multiple formats, with Currie and Wheal selected for the 50-over side.

Wheal has represented Scotland in white ball cricket on 30 occasions, taking 40 wickets but has not featured internationally since playing in the 2022 T20 World Cup against Zimbabwe in Hobart.

This represents Currie's first international selection, the 22-year old featuring regularly for Hampshire in white-ball cricket, taking 66 wickets across both formats in 43 games.

Scott Currie is obviously following in his brother’s footsteps, after Brad made such an impact for us last summer, but he’s a great player in his own right. He’s tall, bowls at a good pace, and an excellent fielder and competitor like his brother.

Their family have a rich connection with Scotland, and in the conversations that I’ve had with Scott about playing for us, it’s clear he is deeply emotionally connected and the opportunity for him and Brad to play alongside each other for Scotland is huge. From our perspective, he absolutely enhances the quality in our squad.
