Currie Earns Maiden England Call-Up for Ireland IT20 Series
Hampshire seamer Scott Currie has earned his first England senior call-up for the IT20s against Ireland, replacing the injured Saqib Mahmood.
Hampshire seamer Scott Currie has received his first England senior call-up after being named as a replacement for the injured Saqib Mahmood in the squad for the three-match IT20 series against Ireland.
The 24-year-old right-armer's selection comes as reward for an outstanding 2025 season that has seen him claim 36 wickets in T20 cricket with best bowling figures of 4-28. His performances in The Hundred have been equally impressive, taking nine wickets for Manchester Originals with a career-best 4-28.
Currie replaces Saqib Mahmood, who has been ruled out with a knee injury that requires minor surgery and will also see him miss England's white-ball tour of New Zealand in October.
A product of Hampshire's Academy system, Currie made his county debut in 2020 and previously represented England at Under-19 level, taking 11 wickets across tours to the West Indies and South Africa in 2019-20. He also made his senior international debut for Scotland in March 2024, playing three ODIs, but remains eligible for England selection under ICC rules.
The Ireland series presents Currie with the perfect opportunity to establish himself in England's white-ball plans, with his aggressive wicket-taking style well-suited to the IT20 format.
