Dawson Included In England Squads For Sri Lanka Tour And Provisional T20 World Cup
Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson has been selected for England's white-ball tour of Sri Lanka and the provisional squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
The 35-year-old will be part of Harry Brook's squad for both the Metro Bank One Day Cup series and the T20 matches against Sri Lanka, before featuring in England's provisional 15-player squad for the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka in February and March.
The left-arm spinner's return to the international stage has been impressive. In June 2025, Dawson took career-best T20 figures of 4-20 in four overs against West Indies at Durham, earning player of the match honours. He was then recalled to England's Test squad for the fourth Test against India in July, his first Test appearance in eight years.
England's tour of Sri Lanka begins on 22 January 2026. The three Metro Bank One Day Cup matches will take place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on 22, 24 and 27 January.
The T20 series follows at Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy, with matches on 30 January, 1 February and 3 February.
Dawson is included in both the Metro Bank One Day Cup and T20 squads for the Sri Lanka tour. For the T20 World Cup, Sussex fast bowler Jofra Archer is named in the provisional squad but will miss the Sri Lanka tour as he continues rehabilitation from a left side strain sustained during the Ashes.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 will be held jointly in India and Sri Lanka. England will face Nepal, West Indies, Bangladesh and Italy in Group C, with matches scheduled between 8 and 16 February.
