Dawson Shortlisted For PCA Men's Player Of The Year

Hampshire's Liam Dawson has been shortlisted for PCA Men's Player of the year award

The shortlist for the 2024 cinch PCA Awards has been revealed, with 14 standout players from the past year chosen by their peers. The nominees include a mix of domestic and international talent, with several past winners in the running. Joe Root, who won the cinch PCA Men’s Player of the Year in 2021 and the Young Player of the Year in 2012, is in contention once again. Nat Sciver-Brunt, the 2017 and 2022 cinch PCA Women’s Player of the Year, is also among the nominees.

Votes were cast in early September, highlighting exceptional performances from England internationals Gus Atkinson and Joe Root. On the domestic front, Hampshire's Liam Dawson and Glamorgan's Colin Ingram earned recognition for their outstanding seasons.

Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson has had a remarkable 2024, scoring 1,231 runs and taking 67 wickets. The 34-year-old currently leads the PCA Men’s Overall Domestic MVP rankings and is the frontrunner for the Vitality County Championship Player of the Year award, having won both accolades last year.

Ahead of the final round of fixtures, Liam Dawson has accumulated 907 runs in the County Championship, alongside 50 wickets—marking the first time he has achieved this milestone in a single season.

In addition to his red-ball success, Dawson has also taken 10 white-ball wickets for Hampshire in 2024.
