Dawson Signs For Islamabad United In Pakistan Super League

The Hampshire all-rounder will head to Pakistan as Paul Stirling’s replacement for the second half of the season

Liam Dawson has joined Islamabad United for the second half of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season, replacing Paul Stirling who has departed for T20 duty with Ireland.

Following his stint in the Caribbean, as a part of the England squad for their T20 series against West Indies, Dawson will now play for the two-time PSL champions alongside the likes of former Hampshire batter Colin Munro, Englishman Alex Hales and South African bowler Marchant de Lange.

The 31-year-old has previous experience in the PSL, representing Peshawar Zalmi on 24 occasions from 2018 to 2020. Across his 3 seasons, Dawson scored 363 runs at a strike rate of 125.60 with the bat, whilst taking 11 wickets with the ball.

Islamabad United won their opening match by nine wickets, against Dawson’s former employers, and will be looking to build on that in their bid to lift their first bit of silverware since 2018.

The Hampshire all-rounder will be available from 10th February and a clash with James Vince’s Quetta Gladiators could provide him with a debut on 12th February.

The best way to watch Liam Dawson and the rest of the Hampshire squad in action this season is with a Hampshire Cricket Membership.

2022 Members also receive access to an exclusive allocation of tickets for next summer’s otherwise sold-out Vitality IT20s at The Ageas Bowl with England facing both India and South Africa at the venue next summer, alongside a whole host of other exciting benefits.
