Donald Reacts To Hampshire's 2023 Fixtures

Hampshire batter Aneurin Donald looks ahead to the team's fixtures for the 2023 season

Hampshire kick off their 2023 County Championship campaign against Division Two champions Nottinghamshire. Donald recognises the threat the East Midlands side pose to Hampshire.

"Well, we're well aware of how good a side they are. Typically they spend a lot of their time in Division One over the last decade or so."

Hampshire then travel to the Oval to take on Champions Surrey, looking to change their recent fortunes in the captial.

"I wasn't a part of it last year, but the boys are well aware that we're going back to the Oval at the second game, so they're really excited to try and set the record straight there and hopefully kind of get the guys off to a bit of a better start."

When looking at outstanding fixtures, Donald saw the final match of the season as potentially the biggest game of the year.

"The last game against Surrey here. Hopefully that'll be the the championship decider as we kind of edged them pretty close this year and didn't quite get there and hopefully can take them all the way to the last game."

Hampshire return to Newclose in 2023, Donald releshed the opportunity to return to the Isle of Wight again in 2023 after 2022's fantastic One Day Cup match against Northamptonshire and 2019's County Championship match against Nottinghamshire.

"We love going across to Newclose. We had an incredible result there last year and also have some good memories of a red ball game a good few years back. We really enjoy going across there and the support we received was fantastic."

With the Hampshire Hawks defending their T20 Blast crown in 2023, Donald highlited some of his favourite T20 fixtures on the calender for next season.

"The ‘el clasicoast’, that's always a big one on our calendar, typically they are a great white ball side over the last few years so, it's important to get one over the local rivals. Certainly it's nice to look at the calendar and see a load of double headers this year with the Vipers they're such a strong squad themselves so hopefully we can kind of put two wins together on a day, multiple times across this year."
