Match Preview: Hampshire Men v Durham, Rothesay County Championship
Hampshire Men return Rothesay County Championship action against Durham at Utilita Bowl over May Bank Holiday weekend
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has today launched an emotive film, titled The Weight, to mark the end of an exceptional cricket season.
The short film, created by the ECB with support from Sky Sports and narrated by former England men’s player Mark Butcher, draws to a close this exceptional season as cricket enters a new chapter, carrying with it the weight of all the sport has gained, learned and sadly lost this year.
This follows the film the ECB launched at the start of the season, The Wait, narrated by Stephen Fry, which captured the spirit of the cricket community and celebrated how society came together during the COVID crisis. Four months later, it was fitting for the ECB to release a second, equally powerful film that reflects on the season past and those who made it possible.
It was an honour to narrate this exceptionally compelling film by the ECB. Despite carrying the weight of this year’s events, it does not surprise me at all that the game was able to come together to bring cricket back to our screens as well as to communities across the country. Whether you batted for England or helped get your local club ready for play, your efforts have contributed to a season like no other.
