Lauren Bell announced herself in emphatic fashion on her WPL debut, producing a swing-bowling masterclass as Royal Challengers Bengaluru edged out Mumbai Indians in a thrilling opening clash.
The Hampshire pacer returned outstanding figures of 1-14 from four overs, including 19 dot balls - the joint second-most by any bowler in WPL history.
She followed that up with another economical outing against UP Warriorz, finishing with 1-16 from four overs, once again setting the tone in the powerplay.
Bell said: "I feel in really good rhythm. I’m just glad that I can come in and set the tone for the team at the moment."
She also highlighted the impact of working with former Southern Brave captain and current RCB bowling coach Anya Shrubsole, adding:
“It’s been great. I’ve obviously worked with Anya for quite a few years now. She’s super calm and brings real clarity.”

After withdrawing from the 2024 season with UP Warriorz, Bell returned this year as RCB’s most expensive buy at £76,000.
Hampshire spinner Linsey Smith also kept things tight, helping restrict UP Warriorz to an under-par 145, and took a well-judged boundary catch to remove Kiran Navgire.
