The 20-year-old has signed a new contract extension, committing his future to the club
Hampshire Cricket are delighted to announce that Felix Organ has signed a new contract extension.
The 20-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a new extended deal, committing his future to the club.
Organ is a product of the club’s player pathway system, first representing the Hampshire at age-group level before going on the captain the Academy and representing the Second XI during both 2017 and 2018 seasons.
The right-hander also made his first-team debut in late September 2017 as a late addition to Hampshire’s County Championship squad to face Middlesex, but it wasn’t until the 2019 season that he solidified a regular spot in the County Championship side as he enjoyed an extended run opening the batting alongside Ian Holland.
Organ recorded his maiden century for the club in just his third first-class game against Kent in July, whilst two fifties – both against Surrey - in the following two games saw him become an integral part of James Vince’s red-ball squad.
Whilst primarily known for his batting, Organ also impressed with the ball last season. A useful off-spinner, the youngster claimed eight wickets at an average of just 15.62 in six contests, including a match-winning 5-25 which saw him tear through Surrey’s middle and lower order to help Hampshire secure a valuable Division one win inside three days.
Alongside his First XI exploits, Organ also captained the Second XI to its first Championship title since 2001 in the final weeks of the 2019 campaign, leading a young side to victory in the competition final against Leicestershire at the The Ageas Bowl.
Having come through the Academy, Felix had his first proper taste of first-class cricket last year and he did really well. The way he played in the Second XI and then taking his opportunity in the first team towards the end of the season was really pleasing and we see him as a great long-term prospect, so we’re delighted that he’s signed a new extension.
