Hampshire Cricket are delighted to announce fast-bowler Fidel Edwards has signed a new contract with the club.
The West-Indian paceman has put pen-to-paper on a new one-year extension which will keep him at the The Ageas Bowl until the end of the 2020 season.
The right-arm seamer joined the Club in 2015, picking up 45 first-class wickets in eight matches at an average of just 20.80 in his debut campaign, and despite suffering a season-ending injury early on in 2016, Edwards returned in emphatic style to pick up 33 wickets at an average of just 24.06 the following year.
Edwards continued that good form last season as he enjoyed an excellent four-day campaign in 2018, passing 50 first-class wickets in a season for the first time in his career as he picked up 54 scalps in 15 matches last summer.
The 37-year-old has also shown no signs of stopping this season, taking 47 wickets at an average of just 23.55, including four five-wicket hauls, with three Championship fixtures still remaining.
Fidel has been fantastic for us since joining in 2015 and this year he’s excelled once again. He’s an important part of our squad and a great character to have in and around the group - we’re delighted to welcome him back for another year.
Giles White, Director Of Cricket
I’m very pleased to have signed for my sixth season at Hampshire, which has become my second home. Hopefully next year we can push on further and I’ll be trying my best to help make it a successful season for the club.
