Fidel Edwards To Represent MCC In 2018 Champion County Match

The Hampshire paceman will feature for the MCC against Essex set to be in Barbados this March

Hampshire fast-bowler Fidel Edwards will represent the MCC in the 2018 Champion County Match against Essex, which takes place in Barbados in March.

The paceman will line up against 2017 County Champions Essex, in a four-day floodlit fixture in Bridgetown, set to be played with pink Duke balls.

Edwards, who is currently in Barbados as part of Hampshire's pre-season involvement of the West Indies Super50 competition, will be leading the MCC attack.

The day/night first-class fixture is to be played in the Caribbean this year for the first time, having been played in Abu Dhabi since 201, and will follow the North-South series.

The 35 year-old paceman took his 350th first-class wicket in the final game of the 2017 season, against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, as his seven wickets in the match helped his side achieve a mid-table finish.

The full MCC squad will be confirmed in due course.
