Southern Vipers are delighted to announce that Lauren Bell, Charlie Dean, Freya Kemp and Danni Wyatt have been awarded central contracts by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Bell, Dean and Kemp are all awarded their first ECB central contracts, with Bell and Kemp having made their international debuts in 2022.
Fast bowler Bell, 21, featured in all three formats for England, as she took her first international wicket on Test debut against South Africa, where she trapped Lizelle Lee lbw before having Marizanne Kapp caught to end her innings of 150.
Dean, 21, once again starred with the ball in England’s ODI series against both South Africa and India.
She took eight wickets with a best of 4-53 against South Africa to go with three wickets and 108 runs, the second most of any England player, against India.
Kemp, 17, meanwhile became the youngest ever Englishwoman to score an IT20 half-century, where she blitzed a 36-ball fifty against India in the second IT20 in Derby.
She also played in every match for England in the Commonwealth Games, the first time women’s cricket has been included in a multi-sports event, and ended the tournament as England’s leading wicket taker.
Wyatt, 31, retains her central contract after an impressive season with the bat, where she scored 292 runs at an average of 24 whilst striking at 123.
We are incredibly proud of all four of our players who have been awarded central contracts, especially Bell, Dean and Kemp who are receiving their first such contracts. They have all played a massive part in our successes of recent years, and we are delighted that, in our current knowledge, Dean, Bell, Kemp and, of course, Danni Wyatt will return to The Ageas Bowl at times across the summer when England schedule allows.
Adam Carty, Regional Director of Women’s Cricket
