Match Preview: Hampshire Men v Durham, Rothesay County Championship
Hampshire Men return Rothesay County Championship action against Durham at Utilita Bowl over May Bank Holiday weekend
Southern Vipers batter Maia Bouchier, all-rounders Charlie Dean and Freya Kemp, and bowler Linsey Smith have all been selected for the England Women A squad to play Australia A in their opening T20 match.
All four players have featured for England Women, with Dean and Kemp being awarded their first ECB central contacts at the end of the 2022 season.
Maia Bouchier was Southern Vipers’ third-leading run scorer, with 196 runs at an average of 32.66 whilst striking at a whopping 139.
Spinner Charlie Dean took eight wickets with a best of 3-27 against Central Sparks at Edgbaston, and took three wickets against Australia in their three-day warm-up match at Leicester.
Freya Kemp made her return to professional cricket against The Blaze in the Charlotte Edwards Cup having suffered a stress fracture in December 2022 which saw her miss out on England’s tour of the West Indies, and the T20 World Cup in South Africa.
She is yet to make a return as an all-rounder having only played as a specialist batter whilst she eases back into playing.
Linsey Smith was the Vipers’ joint-leading wicket taker in their successful Charlotte Edwards Cup campaign, picking up 13 wickets whilst having the lowest economy rate of any bowler in the competition on her return to the The Ageas Bowl-based side having spent five years away.
