Hampshire Bowling Duo Selected for England Duty
Lauren Bell and Linsey Smith have been selected in the England Women's squad to face West Indies
Fast bowler, Lauren Bell and spinner, Linsey Smith, will join up with the England Women's squad for a six match white ball series against West Indies, starting next week.
Both players have been in exceptional form throughout April and May, playing an integral part in Hampshire’s rise to the top of the Metro Bank One Day Cup table, at the competition’s half way point.
Linsey Smith has starred with the ball, taking 14 wickets in six matches, while Bell has picked up 10 wickets in the five-matches she has played.
The Hampshire pair will be looking forward to linking back up with their former club Head Coach, Charlotte Edwards, who moved from her role at Hampshire to take England’s top job in April. Edwards enjoyed unparalleled success at Utilita Bowl, winning five national titles in five years, including an historic domestic double in 2022.
"We have selected squads on the back of strong performances and form in the opening rounds of the Metro Bank One Day Cup. That was the challenge to the players and I’ve been so impressed by what I’ve seen across the competition."
Charlotte Edwards, England Women's Head Coach
"It’s great to be able to reward that form, and to see one or two new faces in the squad, as well as the return of a few others. I’m sure they’ll be delighted and they can be proud of what they’ve done in order to be selected."
