A host of Hampshire Cricket players enjoyed a morning on the River Solent on Tuesday (3rd July), as part of a team-building exercise leading into the start of this summer’s Vitality Blast competition.
James Vince’s side took part in the session hosted on Trafalgar Wharf, Portsmouth, which was designed to give players an opportunity to relax and spend time together off the field.
The activity-filled day followed hot-on-the-heels of Saturday’s Royal London One-Day Cup triumph, which saw the side defeat Kent Spitfires in the competition finale held at Lord’s, and the day out on water was also an opportunity for the squad to celebrate the competition successes with the One-Day Cup trophy also present on the day.
Team building days like this are very important. We get so caught up in a busy schedule and so to get time away from the game and not think about it, spending time with your team mates and getting to know them off the field is priceless.

Hopefully going into the new competition starting on Friday, will give us that extra little boost that we need. We hope to win it – and have a good track record going into Final’s day.
We’ve had a couple of days downtime, followed by this fun on the Solent today and then back into training hard before Friday. I can’t wait for the T20 to start, we’ve a strong squad and a lot of confidence from the 50 over win, so hopefully we can put in some strong performances and do well in this competition.
Craig White, Hampshire Cricket Head Coach
Following the weekend’s 50-over final victory, attention now turns to this year’s Vitality Blast with seven South Group matches arriving at the The Ageas Bowl during July and August. Hampshire’s campaign gets underway this Friday (6th July) as Glamorgan visit the The Ageas Bowl for the competition curtain raiser.
