Hampshire Cricket Appoints David Faulkner As Non-Executive Director

Olympic gold medallist joins Hampshire Cricket's Board as a voting director to help shape future activities

Hampshire Cricket Company Limited (“Hampshire Cricket”) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Faulkner as a Non-Executive Director. The appointment was effective from 1st July, 2021.

Faulkner will bring a wealth of experience to the role, assisting the current and new Members of the Board with strategic input and helping to shape future activities. He will attend all Board meetings as a voting director.

Most recently, Faulkner held the position of Head of Performance of the Women’s Professional Game at The Football Association, providing leadership and strategic direction as a member of the Leadership Team and helping to lead improvement in performance and professional standards across the club pathway.

Faulkner, who received an MBE for services to sport in the Queen’s Birthday Honours this year, joined The FA in 2017 from one of the UK’s leading independent schools, Millfield, where he held the role of Director of Sport.

We are delighted that David has agreed to join the Board of Hampshire Cricket in a non-executive capacity.

His vast experience in performance management and the development of excellence in elite sports will enhance and support our existing resources and assist us to achieve our on-field ambitions at all levels.

Rod Bransgrove, Hampshire Cricket Chairman

The former Olympian, who achieved a gold medal in field hockey at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, had most recently led the Great Britain Football squad as team leader at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Faulkner held the role in which his personal Olympic experience and expertise in operating under challenging Covid-19 restrictions provided the squad with the optimal support to compete at the Games.

In addition to the above, Faulkner was formerly a member of the Performance Director Strategic Group, Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme and Sports Aid Board.

I am very happy to be joining the Board of Hampshire Cricket and look forward to contributing to the ambitious plans of this pioneering and innovative Club.
