Hampshire’s Pre-Season Calendar Confirmed
Hampshire’s men and women will be going on tour in March with trips to Stellenbosch and Desert Springs, and five warm up matches
Hampshire Cricket would like to express their great sadness at the passing of former Hampshire wicket-keeper Ralph Prouton, aged 92.
Ralph Prouton was born in Southampton in 1926 and played 52 matches for Hampshire between 1949 and 1954, claiming 97 dismissals (84 catches, 13 stumpings) with the gloves.
The right-hander also totalled 982 runs in that time, with a first-class best of 90 against Leicestershire at Portsmouth in 1953 - the same side he made his first-class debut against at Southampton in 1949.

Prouton was also on the books of Arsenal FC alongside Jimmy Gray, Don Roper, Athur Milton and Denis Compton, before moving to Swindon Town FC in 1952, where he featured in 13 league and three cup matches during the 1952/53 season.
Following his retirement, he subsequently becmae an umpire, standing in 53 minor counties matches between 1957 and 1969.
