Hampshire Cricket To Support Rainbow Laces LGBT Campaign
Hampshire Cricket and the Southern Vipers back Stonewall's Rainbow Laces efforts to make sport everyone’s game
Hampshire Cricket and the Southern Vipers have joined the Rainbow Laces campaign to celebrate lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) players and fans at every level of cricket.
Following the success of last year's inaugural Rainbow Laces campaign, the ECB has joined forces with LGBT equality charity Stonewall to bring Rainbow Laces to the Vitality Blast and Kia Super League once again this year.
The campaign will see thousands of players and fans lace up their Rainbow Laces on 27-29 July, to show that cricket is everyone's game and that LGBT people are welcome and included at every level.
Hampshire will show their support by wearing rainbow laces during their 'el clasicoast' Vitality Blast fixture against Sussex Sharks at Hove this Sunday.
Tickets for all Hampshire and Southern Vipers matches are available to purchase via the link below, over the phone on 0844 847 1863 or in person at The Ageas Bowl Ticket Office (Mon - Fri: 9am - 5pm).
We know that most fans welcome and accept LGBT people in sport. However, we can’t let a minority of fans spoil the game and make LGBT fans feel unwelcome watching or playing cricket.
By supporting Rainbow Laces we are stepping up to show that offensive chants, language and behaviour have no place in our game.
Hampshire's clutch duo Ben Mayes (highest run-scorer) and Manny Lumsden (highest wicket-taker) have been named in the ICC Under-19 World Cup Team of the Tournament, selected by Ian Bishop, Lydia Greenway, Andy Flower and Telford Vice
The 10th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup gets underway on 7 February, with Pakistan facing the Netherlands in the opening fixture. The tournament will be hosted across India and Sri Lanka, with the final set to take place on 8 March.
