Southampton Hawks Academy – a team formed by Hampshire Cricket in partnership with Hampshire Cricket Board, Cantell School and Lord’s Taverners Wicketz programme -have continued their success having beaten Calmore Sports U15s on Wednesday 1st June.
The team – created to provide new and better cricketing opportunities for young people who may otherwise be disadvantaged from gaining normal access to cricket coaching and matches – began their competitive season in May and have now played three matches.
Batting first, the Hawks Academy put on a huge total of 179-3 in their 20 overs against Calmore, with Rocky and Ronni Singh leading the way, scoring 51 off 36 retired, and 45 off 42 retired, respectively.
Southern Vipers Academy's Eve O'Neill provided the resistance with the bat for Calmore, with 64 off 51 retired, but tidy bowling from the Hawks Academy restricted Calmore to 132-4 in 20 overs, with Husnain Riaz, Mohamed Kamal and Said Jajali picking up wickets with the ball, as well as a run out from Iqrar Mohammad.
