Match Preview: Hampshire Men v Worcestershire, Rothesay County Championship
Hampshire Men return to Utilita Bowl as they face Worcestershire in the second round of County Championship fixtures featuring the Kookaburra ball
Hampshire bowlers Jack Campbell and Harry Petrie will both leave the Club following the conclusion of the 2023 season as their contracts come to an end.
Having begun his cricketing journey in Hampshire’s age group and Academy sides, Campbell returned to The Ageas Bowl after a spell in Durham in 2022.
The 23-year-old made his debut in a First-Class match against a Sri Lanka Development XI side, before impressing in Hampshire’s 2022 Royal London Cup campaign as the young side progressed all the way to the semi-final – taking 17 wickets.
Petrie is another product of Hampshire’s youth system and has impressed in the Second XI for a number of years.
Like Campbell, he too made his debut for the Club during the First-Class match with a Sri Lanka Development XI, taking 4 wickets across both innings.
It’s always sad to part company with players, especially when they have been popular members of the squad.
Giles White, Hampshire Director of Cricket
We would like to wish both Jack and Harry well for the future and thank them for all their efforts – they will always be welcome here at The Ageas Bowl.
Everyone at Hampshire Cricket would like to thank Jack and Harry and wish them the best for the future.
