Australian all-rounder Michael Neser and batter Jake Lehmann join Hampshire for the 2026 season
A young Hampshire Second XI side lost their opening 50-over Trophy match to local rivals Sussex by 130 runs at Horsham.
Batting first, the home side reached 264-6 from their 50 overs with Phil Salt top-scoring with 70. Fast-bowler Brad Wheal finished with figures of 1-48 whilst Aaron West (2-38) and Jamie Odell (2-70) picked up two wickets.
Ryan Stevenson skippered the side and in reply, Hants were dismissed for 134. Opener Tom Alsop top-scored with 47 from 58 balls whilst Academy all-rounder Tom Scriven chipped in with 26 from 36 balls.
Former Hampshire spinner Danny Briggs finished with figures of 2-33, but it was fellow spinner Will Beer (3-31) who was the pick the bowlers, taking three wickets.
